Meet Dr. Steven Herzog, Superintendent
Dear Reed Union Community,
Thank you to the Reed Union School Board for allowing me the privilege to serve as the next Superintendent of the Reed Union School District. My wife and I fell in love with the Bay Area many years ago and I am honored to lead this progressive community of learners. It is obvious to me Reed Union School District has embraced the core values of enlightening minds, inspiring hearts, and strengthening resolve to positively impact the world. Retiring Superintendent Christine Carter and her team have developed a highly successful school district where relationships matter and honoring people is the engine that makes the system tick.
The world we live in today is constantly changing, evolving with new ideas and information entering our schools and classrooms on an almost daily basis. Creativity, innovation, dedication, and a commitment to children have marked my career in education. Through it all, I have maintained an unrelenting commitment to a core value of relationship. I have only worked in school districts that want to be the very best. Not just say it, but back it up with action. I cherish working alongside educators and am passionate about this calling. I pledge to forge lasting relationships in an atmosphere of trust to collaboratively build improved systems for the betterment of our children.
We live in interesting times, but one thing remains constant in the face of complexity and change: In Reed Union School District we won't put artificial boundaries around the minds of our students and faculty members. I pledge we will continue to be more open minded, more nimble, and more innovative than most other school districts. As the Reed mission states, together we will "provide our children with extraordinary opportunities to enlighten their minds, inspire their hearts, and strengthen their resolve to positively impact the world!"
Thank you for the warm welcome my wife and I have received during our transition to the community. I anxiously look forward to getting started in July and hope to better know each of you in the near future.
Dr. Steve Herzog
Superintendent
Reed Union School District
